Delta Hockey Academy Course Selection

Delta Hockey Academy Course Selection

Delta Hockey Academy (DHA) students’ educational program consists of courses at North Delta Secondary and at the Planet Ice rink that houses the DHA Program. Students in Grade 8 and 9 take their school based courses in the morning, and have their rink based program in the afternoon, while students in Grades 10-12 have their rink based program in the morning and take their school based courses in the afternoon. Courses taken at the school are ‘traditional’ in person classes with a subject teacher providing direct instruction. Courses at the rink are delivered through an online platform with indirect instruction, or are completed through the hockey activities at the rink.

The courses a student takes at the school and at the rink depends on the student’s grade:

Delta Hockey Academy students entering grade 8 will automatically be signed up for all the courses they require – no course selection is required. Students entering Grades 9-12 will be automatically signed up for the courses they are taking at the rink, and will sign up for online courses completed at the rink in early September. For course selection, Grade 9-12 DHA students will need to select only those courses they are taking at the school, plus the grade appropriate Hockey course. Students will need to sign up for the grade appropriate courses listed above (those ‘At NDSS’) through their MyED account. Students will also be asked to provide alternate course selections for their elective choices in case their hockey schedule conflicts with their first choice of electives.
